Raiders of the Lost Ark is now considered one of the greatest films ever made and has had a lasting impact on popular culture, spawning a host of imitators across several media and inspiring other filmmakers. The film was nominated for several awards, and won five Academy Awards, seven Saturn Awards, and one BAFTA, among other accolades. It was also a critical success, receiving praise for its set pieces, humor, and action. Despite this, Raiders of the Lost Ark became the highest-grossing film of the year, earning approximately $354 million worldwide, and played in some theaters for over a year. Pre-release polling showed little audience interest in the film leading up to its June 12, 1981, release date, especially compared to Superman II. Filming took place on sets at Elstree Studios, England, and on location mainly in La Rochelle, France, Tunisia, and Hawaii. Principal photography began in June 1980 on a $20 million budget, and concluded that September. While the pair had ideas for set pieces and stunts for the film, they hired Kasdan to fill in the narrative gaps between them. Development on Raiders of the Lost Ark resumed that year when he shared the idea with Spielberg, who joined the project several months later. Lucas eventually focused on developing his 1977 film Star Wars. Seeking to modernize the serial films of the early 20th century, he developed the idea further with Kaufman, who suggested the Ark as the film's goal. Lucas conceived Raiders of the Lost Ark in the early 1970s. Teaming up with his tough former romantic interest Marion Ravenwood ( Karen Allen), Jones races to stop rival archaeologist René Belloq ( Paul Freeman) from guiding the Nazis to the Ark and its power. Set in 1936, the film stars Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones, a globetrotting archaeologist vying with Nazi German forces to recover the long-lost Ark of the Covenant which is said to make an army invincible. You'll having to fight a few short waves of mercenaries, so be careful.Raiders of the Lost Ark is a 1981 American action-adventure film directed by Steven Spielberg from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan, based on a story by George Lucas and Philip Kaufman. Head to the back of the walkway around the back to cross back to where you were. When it's all the way up, cut the rope so the truck falls, breaking part of the large door off. Once you're at the crank, use your rope arrow and the crank to pull up the minecart against the truck. Climb onto the walkway and push the minecart that's halfway up off the ledge. When facing the big door, go right and jump onto the zip-line that's attached to the falling truck. Climb to the other side using the rope attached to the door. Then, kill the ones around the machine that's trying to pull down the door. Take out the two men in the area nearest you before proceeding. Proceed down the hallway, minding the pitfall trap until you make your way into the main mining area. From there, drop back down and climb onto the lift, up the shaft, and onto the ice wall. Use it to cut the rope holding up the boxes that are blocking you from crossing, and then again on both of the cables holding up the lift. Make your way up it and pick up a combat knife. Then, push the rail cart up against the far ledge. Once you get to the opening, kill the three men however you please. You'll be cut off from Jacob, so you need to run for you life as you go through the collapsing mine. Make your way through the mine until things go bad, as they often do for Lara. Lara must get through quickly or else Trinity could reach the Divine Source first. Tread carefully, the whole place could come down at any more with Trinity's mining operation. It's even more dangerous with the mercenaries who lurk within. Built long ago by the Russians, this mine is anything but safe as Trinity digs near it.
